HTC Touch Cruise (Iolite) Announced!

HTC has announced the HTC Iolite, as the new Touch Cruise.

HTC clearly focused on location based services and GPS navigation in this device. It comes with a built in button for navigation, and has a new feature called HTC Footprint (the ability to create geo-tags on the fly using the camera, notes, audio notes etc.

Peter Chou, President and CEO of HTC, said:

“Just as we have seen GPS technology transform how people navigate to new places, we are now seeing location-based applications like HTC Footprints changing how we interact and carry our memories,”

Here's a short video explaining the Footprint feature:

I like it.

As can be seen in the video, the GPS navigation starts automatically when placing the device on a bundled car cradle. The user interface in such case is "replacing" itself to include large buttons just like any GPS navigation, since it should be used while sitting in the car.
