While visiting the different booths I suddenly fully understood that thing that started last year in the relatively calm (=boring) mobile world congress: smartphones are suddenly boring.
Most Android phones look alike, they are all big, aligned with pretty standard version of Android, the custom shells are far less customized than in the past due to historical upgrades issues and the crazy specs are no longer making a big difference in usability.
It's sad to say, but it seems like it's getting harder to impress us with new smartphone models. Can it be that smartphones are no longer interesting?
Take LG's booth as an example; here are two pictures I took in the area of the new LG phones vs the wearables area. While the phones side was quite empty, it was practically impossible to reach the LG Watch Urbane.
